Chisels: what you need to know

Metal-working chisels can be used to cut rivets, stuck nuts and other fasteners that are impossible to remove any other way. With their help, you can also break the welded seams on the car body parts. The devices are made as solid steel rods with a sharpened tip.

What are the types of metal-working chisels?

By cross-section:

Using an air tool, all you have to do is to insert the chisel into the chuck, fix it, and switch on the tool by pressing the button.

Observe the safety regulations. In particular, use protective goggles and also install safety netting around your workbench so as to prevent small metal pieces from scattering around the room.

Avoid processing hardened or compound steel: as a rule, these tools aren’t suitable for that. Keep the accessories in a dry place away from acid and alkali fumes. Check the equipment regularly for chips and other damages.
